I have fond memories as a young kid, eating breakfast at Keventer's with my family - sausages, fried tomatoes, eggs and toast, and their famous milk shakes, pony rides around the Chowrasta Mall, delicious baked treats from Glenary's, watching movies at the Clock Tower movie theatre and Rink cinema and attending North Point, St. Joseph's School ...more than fifty years ago! The large English-style building that you pointed out used to be called the Ajit Mansions (had rented opulent apartments) owned by by a wealthy family and the Oxford Bookstore has been there for over 100 years. Watching this from halfway across the world brings back some very nostalgic memories of places and people, some long departed. Darjeeling was much smaller back then - not so crowded, no street food stalls, fewer cars,, less pollution. Thank you for this lovely stroll back in time.

I spent 5 days in Istanbul. Great place. In Oct that year, $1 gets you 9 TL> The prices have double in 3 years, for us tourist! It must be devastating or the average resident. It still is cheaper than any city in Western Europe, but the price of daily goods, such as cheese, or oilve oil(!) is astronomical.

Beautiful video Jason with good information. Blue Mosque is free entry but rest of huge entry fee, been to Istanbul 4 times in 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2023. In 2017 the Galata tower fee was 25TL and Topkapi Palace around 40TL. In 2017 £1 I got 5TL, 2019 was 8TL, 2021 around 17TL and 2023 Oct was 38TL. Yes foods and transportation was expensive now. My favourite Mosque is Camlica Camii and 2nd is Blue and 3rd is Sulemaniya Mosque. Regards
